The Wildcard AEX2400 is a full-length PCI-Express 1.0-compliant card that supports FXS and FXO station interfaces for connecting analog telephones and analog POTS lines through a PC. Using Digium's Asterisk Open Source PBX software and standard PC hardware, one can create a SOHO (Small Office Home Office) telephony environment that includes all the sophisticated features of a high-end business telephone system.
Note: The AEX2400 is the PCI Express 1x version of the Digium TDM2400P. If you require a regular PCI version of this card, please order the TDM2400P.
The AEX2400 takes the place of an expensive channel bank and brings the system price point to a low level. By using X400M and S400M modules with the AEX2400, one can create a solution with support for a range of telephones. To scale this solution, simply add additional AEX2400 cards populated with modules.
Digium's AEX2400 range is available using the drop-down box below. The naming convention for this product is AEX24XYB/E:
- X — represents the number of FXS (analog telephone interface) modules installed. Each FXS module has four analog telephone ports.
- Y — represents the number of FXO (analog PSTN line interface) modules installed. Each FXO module has four analog PSTN line ports.
- B/E — represents the presence of the optional echo cancellation module. B indicates the board does not have hardware echo cancellation support, and E indicates the board does have hardware echo cancellation support. Note, however, that software echo cancellation can still be used.
Unlike previous Digium boards which had RJ-11 or RJ-45 jacks on the back of the card, this card features a 25 pair (50 pin) "Amphenol" connector as shown in the picture above. If you are not familiar with this style of connector, the easiest way to connect to your new Digium board is using a patch panel with a 25-pair connector.
Note: The Digum AEX2400 has a 12V power connector (like those used inside your PC's case for powering hard drives and CD-ROM drives), and this must be connected if you have FXS modules installed.
